BÖRMEMO 03 (final version)
13.1.2015 – The present policy brief addresses the role of plant breeding for the advancement of the bioeconomy in Germany. BÖRMEMOS summarize the council’s appraisal of key aspects of the bioeconomy in a condensed form. They do not claim to provide a comprehensive study of these facts. Rather, they present a focused and generally comprehensible view of each area and its relationship to the bioeconomy. BÖRMEMOS are designed as an incisive contribution to public debate. They have their theoretical basis in extensive background papers that are also published on the Council’s home page.
In June 2014, the Bioeconomy Council published preliminary versions of the mentioned briefs (BÖRMEMOs). Consequently, these have been further developed in a council-internal and an external review process as well as through a stakeholder discussion with representatives from industry, science and society. The present briefs result from this process.
